If you can remember...

A clever person once said "if you can remember the sixties, you weren't really there".

As someone whose formative years were in the - much less fashionable - eighties, I've often wondered what our equivalent saying might be.

I've come up with a few alternatives:

"If you can remember the eighties, I'm sorry"

"If you can remember the eighties, that's unfortunate"

"If you can remember the eighties, don't"

"If you can remember the eighties, it may pay to drink 'til you forget them"

...feel free to add your own... if you can remember the eighties that is.

i'm not feeling clever enough at this hour to add one but i'm with you, that decade is one which should be forgotten.
i'm amused at the reaction of the younger set when i say the 80's is embarrassing to remember, asking me "but why?"
i think you had to be there to understand.

If you remember the eighties then you'd know not to wear that stupid fucking mullet.

I saw a sign in a jeans shop, who's market is the younger generation, with a sign saying "Come back 1986, all is forgiven!"

As none of the customers would have been born in 1986, it occurred to me:

"If you remember the eighties, you wouldn't want to be there!"

I like that one too!

And what gives them the right to forgive 1986! I wasn't invited to the meeting where that decision was made...

The 80's were horrid!! Although I loved them at the time...

but let's see, If you remember the 80's you'll remember that legs stay warm just fine without legwarmers!
or alternately...

tight leggings, flouncy bubble skirts and big bows everywhere flatter only the tiniest people...the rest of us are SOL!

if you enjoy the idea of Cotard's Syndrome then heres something a little more criptic: BIID (Body Integrity Identity Disorder)is an illness where a person believes that the only way they can lead a normal life is by cutting off one of their limbs. So they will go to great lengths to amputate or have one of their appendages amputated. CHEERS!

Hope all is well and that we'll be benefitting from your wisdom and insight soon.

(ZĂ©zette here, by the way. I stupidly swapped over to the beta blog, and so now I can't leave comments on non-beta blogs. WTF?! Narce one, Blogger)

If you can't help remembering the 80s, at least burn the pictures.

No one should ever admit they remember the 80s.

Let's burn the pictures, erase the decade from all history books and pretend it never happened ;-)

Personally I really dig the 80's. Sure I wasn't around during them. But the clothing style, the music, and everything I know about that era seems pretty rad. Except mulletts... no one can justify mullets.

First off all I would like to thank you for that great post. It's very interesting to read your posts. As I can see, a lot of people here knows much about ED treatment maybe they can help me. For a log time I can't decide what is better: to buy viagra, to buy cialis or levitra? I found this online pharmacy no prescription to buy all this things, so can somebody help me to make a decision? IMHO I should buy viagra

The classic Monogram Canvas has been louis vuitton outlet trademark design since it was first introduced in 1896. The graphic symbols, including the quatrefoils and flowers, as well as the LV Monogram were used to prevent counterfeiting designer handbags wholesale in the early days when it was first patented. Made of coated canvas, the Monogram’s traditional look is also endured by its durability.

while this is not an 80s comment,
(however, i DO remember the 80s and wax poetically about them all. the. time.)(just ask my kids)...
i did want to say this...
i happened across this comment that you left on my blog (i'm not sure when) but it must have been awhile ago

"Do you remember writing this:

"hmmmm...i did not even
want a blog...and now i have one
just so that i could tell my top 5..."

I was just trawling my archives when I came across this comment. I followed the link to see if you had actually posted anything on your blog, only to find you have three!

Anyway, thought I'd say hi and remind you of your bloggy beginnings."

and I wanted to say that i do indeed remember that this is exactly how i started blogging...in april 2005...in order to leave a comment on your page. :)

I believe it had to do with a list...and maybe something to do with Canada. :)

it's kind of funny, really...
:)
